City Hotel Comfitel

Nearest metro: Obvodny Kanal

The Comiftel City Hotel enjoys a reasonably central location in one of St. Petersburg's more nondescript historic neighborhoods, just south of the Obvodny Canal. Much of the area around the hotel was the main industrial area in the late nineteenth century, and there are some attractive if derelict factory and warehouse buildings, particularly along Obvodny Canal.

The nearest metro to the hotel is Ligovsky Prospekt, about 500m away along the main avenue. Guests will probably find it easier to use one of the many bus, minibus, and tram services that go past the hotel along Ligovsky Prospekt up to Ploshchad Vosstaniya and Nevsky Prospekt.

The Comfitel is reasonably conveniently located for St. Petersburg's mainline stations, with Moskovsky and Vitebsky Stations (serving trains to Belarus, Ukraine and the Baltic States) both within ten minutes' drive from the hotel. Ladozhsky Station, which is the terminal for trains to Finland and Northern Russia, is 20-30 minutes away by taxi.

Pulkovo-2 International Airport is around 14km from the City Hotel Comfitel, and can be reached by car in around 30 minutes in reasonable traffic conditions. Pulkovo-1, the domestic terminal, is a further 2km out of the city.

Local Sightseeing

Although the City Hotel Comfitel is within the 19th century boundaries of the historic city, there is little of interest for visitors in the immediate neighborhood of the hotel. The one exception might be the Cossack Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, about 200m from the hotel up Ligovsky Prospekt. In sorry state of repair, but slowly being renovated, this is in fact a complex of nineteenth century buildings, the most impressive of which is the splendid neoclassical belltower, dating from 1812.
