Shelfort Hotel at the Shelfort Hotel in St. Petersburg

Located on a charming pedestrian street on Vasilevskiy Island, the Shelfort has won a reputation as a cozy home-from-home for Russians and foreigners, business and leisure travellers alike.

Opened in 2001, the Shelfort is one of the older generation of St. Petersburg's mini-hotels. Occupying two floors of a beautiful Style Moderne apartment building just five minutes' walk from Vasileostrovsky Metro Station, the Shelfort Hotel offers simple and inexpensive accommodation in fifteen guest rooms with some surprisingly elegant touches, particularly in the hotel's two suites, both of which have traditional antique stoves that are still in working order. Although extra facilities are minimal, the Shelfort does offer a standard range of business and concierge services, as well as WiFi access throughout, and a reasonable "English" breakfast in its attractive ground-floor hall.

The historic section of Vasilievskiy Island is one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in St. Petersburg, with the nearby St. Petersburg State University giving the area a distinctive and congenial atmosphere. Within easy walking distance of the Shelfort are some of the city's most popular visitor attractions, including the Kunstkammer, the Menshikov Palace, and the Strelka ("spit") of Vasilevskiy Island, with the magnificent Rostral Columns and stunning panoramic views across the Neva Delta.
