Wonderful place to stay

Convenient to everything you need, and all within walking district. Very personalized attention. Wonderfully luxurious amenities include a yogurt fountain in evening, live violin and cello music in lobbly (played from balcony). very nice elegant touch, and personalized service provided by the concierge desk, and the wonderful doorman, Alexis.

Location, location, location. That's why we loved the Kempinski Moika 22. To be right next to Palace Square and see the Hermitage from your room or from the fantastic top-floor brasserie makes the Kempinski worth every penny. Not to mention the very nice room and the excellent staff.

Trip in April 2010

Location, location and, again, location! I was stunned to be able to step out onto the Palace Square right from the hotel's front door (oh, well, technically-speaking there's a small bridge in between). Out of curiosity I measured 367 steps from the Moika 22's front door to the main gate of the Winter Palace/Hermitage… Now, the hotel was very pleasant. The room faced the atrium and was good size, comfortable and very well thought through. TV controls were a bit awkward, but that was because they wanted to squeeze too many functions into one television. I was not there to watch TV anyway!... The bathroom was good, power shower – superb… Breakfast was sumptuous, but pleasantly informal. The breakfast room is part of the open-plan lobby area with very relaxed atmosphere, great coffee and, as expected, an overwhelming choice of foods… Room service prices were a bit steep, but I have eaten once at their upstairs restaurant. The food was fairly good, and the view over the roofs of St. Petersburg onto the Hermitage and gilt spires was stunning... Two thumbs up for Kempinski!

Kempinski Hotel Moika 22

I chose Kempinski (Hotel Moika 22) for a simple reason of it being next-door to Hermitage Museum and major sights. As I expected, I could see the Hermitage from the hotel's doorstep and I eventually spent one wonderful afternoon there… As for the hotel features, I was generally satisfied: the staff was friendly and quite helpful, and breakfast was good. My room was of very sound quality, with a fine bathroom. I was a little disappointed that my room faced the atrium, and not the street. I was told that all the moderately-priced rooms faced the atrium. That was not much of a problem as we spent most of our time away from the room, somewhere in town… I particularly liked their roof-top restaurant. In August the weather was still very mild and my girlfriend and I were able to sit on the outside terrace. The terrace faced the sunset and the view with golden domes and spires was majestic… All in all, this was a pleasant experience and the Kempinski met my expectations…
