Local Sightseeing

The Radisson Sonya Hotel is within walking distance of several top visitor attractions, including the Summer Garden and Summer Palace of Peter the Great, the Field of Mars, and the State Russian Museum in the Mikhailovsky Palace.

The most striking landmark in the immediate vicinity of the Radisson Sonya Hotel is the so-called "Big House", a large constructivist building notorious as the former headquarters of the KGB, which is one block north of the hotel. A few steps further on is Liteyniy Bridge, which provides spectacular views down the Neva River to the Peter and Paul Fortress and the Winter Palace.

One block in the opposite direction along Liteyniy Prospekt is Ulitsa Pestelya, a picturesque side street bookended by two historic churches - the neoclassical Transfiguration Cathedral and the charming baroque Church of St. Panteleimon the Healer. Just before reaching the latter, turn right to see the stunning building of the Museum of Decorative Arts, part of the Baron Stieglitz College of Industrial Art.
