The Fifth Corner Hotel stands at the convergence of three streets – hence the name – in downtown St. Petersburg, just over ten minutes' walk from Nevsky Prospekt. Although not within comfortable walking distance of the city's most popular visitor attractions, the Fifth Corner is surrounded by elegant 19th century apartment blocks in an area that features extensively in the novels of Fyodor Dostoevsky and increasingly is home to some of St. Petersburg's best restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.

The Fifth Corner also has excellent public transport links, with Dostoevskaya and Vladimirskaya Metro Stations under five minutes' walk away, and Moskovsky and Vitebsky Railway Stations both within ten minutes' drive of the hotel. Pulkovo International Airport is about 14km from the Fifth Corner, and can be reached by car in around 40 minutes under normal traffic conditions.
Local sightseeing
Major sights such as the Hermitage, the State Russian Museum, St. Isaac's Cathedral and the Peter and Paul Fortress are best reached by public transport from the Fifth Corner Hotel. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel there are not many visitor attractions, although the neighborhood itself is full of historic atmosphere and attractive 19th century architecture.

The Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, about five minutes' walk from the Fifth Corner opposite Vladimirskaya Metro Station, is one of St. Petersburg's most impressive and attractive historical churches. Built over a twenty-year period and completed in 1783, the building is a combination of late baroque and early neoclassical styles that form an elegant, organic and unmistakably Russian landmark.

Near the church, the Dostoevsky Memorial Museum (No. 5, Kuznechniy Pereulok ) occupies the apartment where the novelist spent his final years. The small museum contains a wealth of Dostoevsky memorabilia and regularly hosts musical and theatrical performances connected to the writer and his work.

One of the most comfortable ways of reaching Tsarskoye Selo to see the Catherine Palace and the spectacular park is to take the suburban train from Vitebsky Station, following the route of Russia's first railway, opened in 1837. The current station dates from 1904 and is an impressively elegant building with lofty interiors and a beautiful Style Moderne facade.
