Dostoevsky Hotel

Nearest metro: Dostoevskaya, Vladimirskaya

The Dostoevsky Hotel is located in downtown St. Petersburg, only a few minutes' walk from Nevsky Prospekt, the city's majestic central avenue, and directly opposite one of the most beautiful historic churches in the city.

The hotel is well located for public transport links. Dostoevskaya Metro Station is next-door to the hotel, and two of St. Petersburg's three mainline railway stations - Moskovsky and Vitebsky - are within ten minutes' drive of the Dostoevsky. Pulkovo-2, the city's international airport, is 17km from the Dostoevsky Hotel and can be reached by car in 30-50 minutes, depending on traffic.

Local Sightseeing

Directly opposite the Hotel Dostoevskaya, the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God is one of St. Petersburg's most impressive and attractive historical churches. Built over a twenty-year period and completed in 1783, the building is a combination of late baroque and early neoclassical styles that form an elegant, organic and unmistakably Russian landmark.

The whole area around the hotel is closely connected with the life and fiction of Fyodor Dostoevsky. The great writer rented apartments at several addresses on and around Valdimirsky Prospekt, and there is now a Dostoevsky Memorial Museum in the last of them, only 100m from the Hotel Dostoevsky at No. 5, Kuznechniy Pereulok. The small museum contains a wealth of Dostoevsky memorabilia and regularly hosts musical and theatrical performances connected to the writer and his work.

The Dostoevsky Hotel is also only a few minutes' walk from the palace-lined embankments of the Fontanka River. In the summer, the beautiful Anchikov Bridge, which carries Nevsky Prospekt across the river and which, with its fine equestrian statues is one of St. Petersburg's most famous landmarks, is also one of the main starting points for cruises along the rivers and canals of the historic centre. In fact, the Hotel Dostoevsky is within walking distance of almost all of the city's major visitor attractions, with the Hermitage, the State Russian Museum, and Kazan and St. Isaac's Cathedrals all less than a kilometer away.
