Pitcher: Description

Pitcher in St. Petersburg, Russia

Pitcher Coffee is a small, independent beacon of a brewer amidst the large coffee chains that line Nevsky Prospekt. This pocket-sized venue with its sober signage is easy to miss, but well worth searching for, as it has some of the best coffee along the eastern stretch of Nevsky Prospekt (the café is situated just across Ulitsa Marata from Mayakovskaya metro station, a few steps from St. Petersburg's main drag). The menu here is quite simple and features plain espresso and espresso-based drinks, as well as coffee prepared using different techniques such as with a Chemex or Aeropress. The café also has a small selection of signature coffee drinks that infuse fruit flavors and spices into the brew. The baristas are so confident in the quality of their beans and their in-house brewing process that they encourage all guests to at least try their coffee without sugar to let the full flavor come through. In addition to coffee, Pitcher serves a small selection of cookies and cakes that visitors can enjoy in the shop's small seating area, the highlight of which is a wall-sized, hand-drawn mural map of the St. Petersburg city center.
