Kharlamov Bridge

Kharlamov Bridge, St. Petersburg, Russia

One of the Griboedov Canal's newest bridges, Kharlamov Bridge, which carries Ulitsa Romskogo-Korsakogo across the canal, is a single-span reinforced concrete bridge with granite facing. It was built to replace a wooden bridge, which had stood on the site since 1753. The bridge's name honors a State Councilor who lived nearby in the 18th century. In comparison to the Griboedov Canal's other bridges, Kharlamov Bridge is woefully lacking in ornament, and even its railings are strictly functional.
