The Bank Bridge

The Bank Bridge, St. Petersburg, Russia

One of St. Petersburg's most famous landmarks, Bank Bridge is a mere 1.85 meters wide, but is instantly recognizable thanks to its four golden-winged griffons, sculpted by Pavel Sokolov, who was also responsible for the lions of the Lions Bridge and the sphinxes of the Egyptian Bridge. Standing across the Griboedov Canal about 100 meters beyond Kazan Cathedral, the Bank Bridge takes its name from the large neo-classical building opposite, which used to house the Assignation Bank, and is now home to the University of Finance and Economics.
