Mini Hotels in St. Petersburg
Mini-hotels are a St. Petersburg phenomenon, with over 500 opening in the last decade. Taking advantage of relaxed regulations and the large amount of impractical and unwanted residential space in the historic center, mini-hotels have helped solve the acute shortage of 'proper' hotel space in St. Petersburg and, in many cases, provide some of the most charming accommodation and friendly, attentive service in the city, as well as the best prices for rooms in downtown St. Petersburg.
Most mini-hotels have been set up in renovated komunalki, the vast communal apartments that once housed the majority of St. Petersburg's citizens. For this reason, they are often accessed through public stairways that may be in a much worse condition than the mini-hotels themselves. Mini-hotels vary hugely in terms of comfort and services provided, with some rivaling the city's top hotels for luxury and amenities. The majority offer clean, comfortable rooms - with en suite bathrooms as a rule - breakfast, and basic business and concierge services. Be sure to check individual mini-hotels for details before booking. |
