Nearest metro: Gostiny Dvor, Nevsky prospekt
The Ermitage Hotel has a superb central location just a few minutes' walk from Palace Square and the State Hermitage, right in the center of historic downtown St. Petersburg. Guests at the Ermitage will find it easy to explore the city on foot, with other nearby attractions including the Church of Our Saviour on the Spilled Blood, the State Russian Museum, and the Peter and Paul Fortress.
This area of the historic center is not particularly well served by public transport, with the nearest metro stations - Nevsky Prospekt and Gostiny Dvor - around 15 minutes' walk away on Nevsky Prospekt. Moskovsky Railway Station is about 2.5km from the Ermitage Hotel, and the journey to/from the station by taxi will take 15-25 minutes. Vitebsky Station is only slightly further away, while Ladozhsky Station, on the east bank of the Neva River, is at least 40 minutes' drive from the hotel.
Pulkovo-2 International Airport is roughly 18km from the Ermitage. The drive to/from the airport can take anything from 40-90 minutes depending on traffic conditions. Allow another 10 minutes to reach Pulkovo-1, the domestic terminal, which is a further 2km out of the city. |

The Ermitage Hotel is situated close to the center of the “Golden Triangle”, the area of St. Petersburg between the Neva, Fontanka, and Moika Rivers that contains nearly all of the city's major visitor attractions. Guests at the Ermitage will find themselves surrounded by sumptuous 18th and 19th century architecture, grand palaces, formal parks, and the winding waterways that have earned St. Petersburg its reputation as the “Venice of the North”.
The world-renowned State Hermitage Museum in the Winter Palace is less than five minutes' walk from the Ermitage Hotel down Millionaya Ulitsa. In the opposite direction, the street leads to the Field of Mars, which was once St. Petersburg's main parade ground, and the charming Summer Gardens, the oldest park in St. Petersburg, with rows of marble statues and the Summer Palace of Peter the Great.
Before them, at the eastern end of Millionaya Ulitsa, stands the Marble Palace, built between 1768 and 1785 by Antonio Rinaldi for Count Grigory Orlov, favourite of Catherine the Great. The building was decorated with 35 types of marble, although little of the original interiors remains. It is now part of the State Russian Museum, housing part of the museum's huge collection of Russian painting, as well as a small collection of modern European art. |
